Runtime follows from panel area and cell capacity together, and the honest expectation for this class is a few hours of useful output after a good day and considerably less in winter or after cloud, which is why a dusk-to-dawn claim should be read as a best case. Weather sealing is next, and the words waterproof and weatherproof are used loosely, so look for a gasket around the lid and a drainage path rather than a rating alone; the failure point is almost always water reaching the battery compartment. Then decide on light quality. Warm white reads as candlelight and suits a small balcony, while a flickering flameless effect trades steady output for atmosphere and is dimmer as a result. Check the hanging hardware, since a thin wire handle will not survive being blown against a rail all winter. Two-pack sets simply save you buying twice.
